Tournaments & Special Assignments

Throughout the year, ALOA officials have the opportunity to work tournaments and special assignments beyond the regular season. These events allow referees to gain additional experience, officiate high-level competition, and represent ALOA at prestigious lacrosse events.

Upcoming Tournaments

ALOA officials may be assigned to various local, regional, and national tournaments. Some of the tournaments we officiate include:

  • WPYLA Championships – Youth playoffs and championship games.
  • State Playoffs & Championships – High school postseason assignments.
  • Club & Travel Tournaments – Opportunities to officiate high-level club teams.
  • National Events – USA Lacrosse-sponsored tournaments and showcases.

A full list of upcoming tournaments and special events will be posted once more information is available.

How to Get Assigned

Tournament assignments are separate from regular-season scheduling and may have additional requirements. To be considered for tournament officiating:

  1. Maintain Good Standing – Regularly attend ALOA meetings and training sessions.
  2. Demonstrate Strong Performance – Display knowledge of the rules, professionalism, and good game management.
  3. Submit Availability – Respond promptly to requests for tournament availability from assigners.
  4. Meet Tournament Requirements – Some tournaments may require additional certifications or travel commitments.

Officials interested in tournament assignments should contact their assignor for more details.

Special Assignments

In addition to tournaments, ALOA members may be selected for special assignments, such as:

  • All-Star Games – Officiating showcase events featuring top players.
  • College Club Lacrosse – Assignments for high-level club and collegiate games.
  • Exhibition & Charity Events – Opportunities to officiate unique games while supporting the community.

Special assignments are often given to officials who demonstrate leadership, consistency, and high-level officiating skills.

Travel & Compensation

Many tournaments provide travel stipends, game fees, and lodging accommodations for officials. Be sure to review the tournament policies before committing to an assignment. If travel is required, officials are responsible for ensuring they meet the event’s requirements for lodging and transportation.
