    How to Get Started

    Step 1: Reach Out to a Board Member

    If you’re interested in officiating, the first step is to contact a board member who can provide details on the process, upcoming training sessions, and what to expect.

    Step 2: Attend Training & Certification Courses

    New officials must complete training sessions to learn officiating mechanics, rules, and positioning. Certification is required through USA Lacrosse and NFHS.

    Training includes:

    • Classroom instruction
    • On-field training
    • Rule interpretation sessions
    • Officiating mechanics for two- and three-man crews

    Step 3: Get Your Uniform & Equipment

    Before stepping on the field, you’ll need the proper uniform and officiating equipment. We provide guides to help you get everything you need at an affordable price.

    Step 4: Get Assigned to Games

    After training, officials receive game assignments through our assignor and use ArbiterSports to manage their schedule. Availability is flexible, and you can select games that fit your schedule.

    Who Can Officiate?

    • Must be at least 14 years old
    • No prior experience required
    • Officiate as many or as few games as you’d like
    • A background in lacrosse is helpful but not required
