• Purpose of Game Reports & Evaluations

    Game reports and evaluations help ensure that officiating quality remains high by providing valuable feedback on performance. These evaluations allow officials to improve their skills, identify strengths and areas for growth, and maintain consistency across all levels of play.

    Officials should take 5-10 minutes to complete the report fairly and honestly, providing as much detail as necessary. Your feedback plays a crucial role in future game assignments, postseason recommendations, and training discussions at chapter meetings.


    Evaluation Criteria & Scoring

    Each official is evaluated on the following categories using a 1-5 scale, where:

    • 5 = Excellent
    • 4 = Above Average
    • 3 = Average
    • 2 = Below Average (Requires Comment)
    • 1 = Poor (Requires Comment)

    Evaluation Categories

    1. Professionalism

    • Arrived on time and followed pre-game protocol.
    • Maintained a professional and composed demeanor.
    • Effectively conducted pre-game meetings with coaches and captains.
    • Interacted respectfully with partners, coaches, players, and game staff.

    2. Appearance, Fitness & Field Coverage

    • Demonstrated proper fitness and stamina to officiate at a high level.
    • Moved efficiently and maintained positioning to make accurate calls.
    • Kept up with play and maintained consistent field coverage.

    3. Rules Application & Knowledge

    • Demonstrated a strong understanding of the rules.
    • Applied rules accurately, fairly, and consistently.
    • Made confident, well-informed decisions based on game situations.

    4. Signals, Mechanics & Judgment

    • Displayed clear and proper mechanics for all signals and calls.
    • Used the whistle and flags appropriately.
    • Applied advantage rules effectively (held whistle and slow whistle).
    • Maintained strong field presence and awareness.

    5. Game Management, Common Sense & Courage Under Pressure

    • Communicated professionally using the language of the rules.
    • Responded appropriately and confidently to questions from coaches and players.
    • Demonstrated the courage to make necessary calls under pressure.
    • Maintained composure in high-pressure situations.
    • Worked effectively with the officiating crew to ensure proper rule enforcement.

    How to Submit a Game Report or Evaluation

    1. Complete the Evaluation Form โ€“ Use the official Game Report/Evaluation Form and score the official(s) based on the criteria above.
    2. Include Comments (if necessary) โ€“ Any score of 1 or 2 requires a comment explaining the reasoning behind the rating.
    3. Submit the Form โ€“ Email or upload the completed evaluation to [insert submission link or email] within the required timeframe.
    4. Follow Up (if needed) โ€“ If an evaluation highlights critical issues, a follow-up discussion may be required with the assigner or board member.
