Staying engaged with the officiating community is essential for growth, training, and networking. Chapter Meetings & Requirements

All ALOA members are required to attend:

• At least one state rules meeting per year to stay current on rule changes and interpretations.
• A minimum of four ALOA chapter meetings to discuss mechanics, game management, and other officiating updates.

These meetings are an opportunity to refine your officiating skills, learn from experienced officials, and prepare for the season ahead.

Training Sessions & Workshops

Ongoing education is a priority for ALOA. Throughout the year, we offer:

• Preseason Training Classes – Essential for new officials and a great refresher for returning officials.
• Mechanics Workshops – Hands-on sessions covering 2-man and 3-man crew responsibilities.
• Continuing Education Webinars – Virtual discussions covering new rules, game scenarios, and best practices.

Tournaments & Special Assignments

Throughout the year, ALOA officials have the opportunity to officiate various tournaments and special events. These assignments provide additional experience and exposure to higher-level competition. Some notable events include:

• Postseason Assignments – Playoff and championship games for high school and youth leagues.
• Summer & Fall Tournaments – Additional officiating opportunities outside the regular season.

Officials interested in special assignments should communicate with their assigner to express interest.

Annual End-of-Season Banquet

Each year, we host an End-of-Season Banquet to recognize outstanding officials, celebrate accomplishments, and reflect on the season. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow officials, enjoy a meal, and honor those who have made significant contributions to the association.
